So Much, All at Once

Four weeks on a walker and a crutch. Now 5 weeks out from my hip surgery. Physical therapy has helped tremendously. I'm walking almost completely normal - almost.

Bob went on his yearly Minnesota fishing trip. While he was gone and I was still on crutches - I fell coming out of the kitchen - directly onto my left hip, spilling my dinner all over the floor. While I lay crying in pain - the dogs woofed down my dinner. They're so sympathetic - those little bastards. I was afraid that I might have damaged my hip, so I didn't do anything but lay around for four days - until I went to physical therapy. My therapist, Lorenzo did some massaging and some exercises, gave me some suggestions and like a miracle, I could walk without pain and I could sleep. I'm even able to go to the gym and workout my abs and arms. Yeah! My brain without endorphins is a scary place.

I had a nice Mother's Day week. Got to see all my grand kids and my own boys and their wives - my wonderful, beautiful daughter-in-laws. Didn't get to see Blake though - miss that boy.

Bob came home with a head cold. I warned him before he left hot to bring home a cold - he did it anyway. Poor guy had to fly with a stuffed up head and he's coughing and sneezing like crazy.

Another thing that happened while he was fishing was that a young couple came to see the condo. I polished, straightened, and generally cleaned the condo to gleaming. First the young lady came with her mother and the agent. She love the loft and the high ceilings, etc. I gave her my phone number and she called to ask if her fiancee and she could come by. I told them to come after dark so they could wee the view with all the lights. He loved it too. I even gave them a bottle of our wine. Long story short, we accepted their offer and so we are preparing for a 30 day escrow.

So much to do, so little time. It's exciting to begin the rest of our lives - planning for a new city, new home, etc. with the man I love. BUT... it's bittersweet to leave my children and grandchildren here in California. Living on a fixed income in California is hard. I might have to supplement our income, not because I want to but, because I have to.

In another state we can purchase a home cash - no mortgage, so our monthly income will take us much further. We can travel on our investment dollars. Then, if I want to, I can take a part-time teaching gig at the local college or I can substitute teach, not because I have to, but because I want to.

If we end up in northern Texas we will be centrally located to all our friends and families in the U.S. We can host family reunions and we can travel easily to see everyone. We will still have the RV, so we can slow travel or we can fly. It's all a lot to look forward to.

Now we've got to order pods - move all our things into them. Put them in storage... disconnect all the utilities, and subscriptions, order our medications, notify banks, clean up

the condo, and hit the road. MY FAVORITE THING to do in the whole wide world!
